This was a school assigned project in which I was instructed to take a truism by artist Jenny Holzer and illustrate it in a Zine format. I chose the truism "war is a purification rite" due to the language used and it's provocative nature. This truism stuck out to me due to the fact the rest of the truisms were more straightforward, for example "an elite is inevitable" and "any surplus is immoral", while this truism was more ambiguous. In this project, I used the same ambiguity found in Jenny Holzer's truism while including my own views on the destructive nature of war.
